The General Inspector of the Defense Ministry and President of the Olympic Committee, General Souheil Khoury was born in Bterram on July 28, 1945. He is married to Hiyam Sabella and they have one son, Souhail.
Mr Khoury's career in the army started in 1965 when he joined the military Academy and he graduated as a Lieutenant in 1968.
He joined several military training sessions in Lebanon and abroad, mainly in Belgium and France. He held many military positions and was granted various national and international high decorations.
Since 1996, he is the Inspector General of the Ministry of Defense and a member of the Military Council.

In parallel to his military achievement, General Khoury has a big passion for sport, especialy equitation. He was a leading figure in many national and international Olympic committees, sport confederations and championships:
Between 1996-2002 president of the Lebanese Equestrian Federation.
Vice President of the Arab Equestrian Federation, Executive Board member of the Arab Sports Confederation and the West Asian Games Federation.
In 1997, as Chairman of the executive board of the organizing Committee of the Pan Arab Games in Lebanon.
Between 1998 and 2000 president of the organizing committees of the World Military Equestrian Championship, Arabic Military Athletics, Orienteering and Equestrian Championships etc..
In 2002, head of Lebanon bidding committee for the Asian Winter Games 2007-2009.
